Quick and Easy Bread Crumbs (Gluten-free option)

Oh, bread crumbs, bread crumbs! They make so many dishes on the next level of tastiness, and it really is amazing what bread crumbs can do. They help keep things together, they give flavor, they give a nice crunch, and when baking them, it makes your house smell like heaven.

Here is a super easy and fun recipe! You can add whatever herbs and spices to make it your own little twist on the recipe.

Ingredients:

Old bread

 ½ Tbsp Dried Parsley

½ tsp garlic powder

½ tsp onion powder

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

¼ tsp oil

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 300 degrees and lightly oil an edged cookie sheet

Take your old bread, rip it into small pieces, and put it in a food processor. Pulse the bread till it’s finely ground. You can pulse it till however small; I like a mixture of bigger (half a pea-sized) and tiny (panko bread crumb size) bread crumbs.

Spread your bread crumbs over the prepared sheet. Add the oil and mix, so it gets on all of the crumbs; add the seasonings.

Stick the pan into the oven for 15-20 minutes at 300 degrees. Stir them around halfway through cooking time. I like extra crunchy bread crumbs, so I lean towards the 20-minute mark.

Once done, let the bread crumbs cool on the pan, then put them into an airtight container.  Now you have bread crumbs that are tasty and easy to make.

Here are some amazing recipes where you can use bread crumbs:

Notes:

  • You can makes these gluten-free or paleo by using that kind of bread
  • I put measurements for the seasonings, but that all depends on the amount of bread crumbs. I ground up about 4 or 5 pieces of standard-sized bread and got 2-2.5 cups of bread crumbs.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, you can use a tiny and keep chopping till the right size of your liking

If you don’t have a food processor, you can use a knife and keep chopping till the right size of your liking

About Me

Welcome to Becky’s Kitchen Corner! I am so happy to see that you are here today. My name is Rebekah, but around here I’m known as Becky. I love to be in the kitchen, cooking and baking up a storm. Though, I don’t like cleaning up the storm as much, ha!

I’m from Pittsburgh and now living in a much sunnier state of North Carolina. I am the youngest of 8 kids and so growing up, I had lots of people to eat up my baked goodies.

In the daytime, I work as a nanny for my sister and brother-in-law to care for my adorable, silly nephew.
