Easy Buttery Sourdough Garlic Bread (with fresh basil)

Do you like butter? Garlic?  Crispy bread? Just combine all three of those ingredients and you can make the butteriest, garlicest garlic bread.

There are different levels of garlic bread. There is your basic, sprinkle some butter on top, at a bit of garlic, and throw it into the oven.

This garlic bread is way above the basic, it’s so good! Super buttery, crispy, and just the right amount of garlic and seasonings.

What’s different about this recipe from other ones?

  • The bread; in this recipe, I used some homemade sourdough bread. Normally Italian or French loaves of bread are used, which are delicious. But using sourdough brings a little zing to it and a slightly different flavor.
  • Butter; I probably use too much for what’s good for you. But to make a super buttery, crispy garlic bread, you need a lot of butter.
  • Garlic; I use quite a bit of fresh, chopped up garlic. But I also don’t just use fresh garlic, but also garlic powder.
  • Cheese; I sprinkle grated parmesan (not fresh grated) on top. Anything with cheese and garlic is amazing! I usually use enough to cover the piece of toast.
  • Fresh Basil; After I put the cheese on, I add just a bit of fresh basil. It brings and whole new flavor and has a fresh sense to it, especially after all that butter.

Ingredients:

6 slices of bread*

3-4 tbsp butter

4 cloves of garlic

¼ tsp salt

⅛ tsp pepper

¼ tsp garlic powder

Grated parmesan cheese

Fresh basil

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 and lay a piece of tin foil on a cookie sheet, set aside

In a shallow saucepan, melt the butter and cook the garlic for 1-2 minutes

To set up a little station, grab your sliced bread, melted butter, and cookie sheet. Dip a slice of bread into the butter quickly, flip and dip again, set on the pan, and repeat. When you have finished dipping the bread in, there might be some garlic leftover. Use a little rubber scraper and distribute that garlic over the bread.

Sprinkle the cheese over the bread and add the fresh basil

Once done with all that, put the cookie sheet in the oven for 5-7 minutes and then on broil for another 5-7 minutes. I like my garlic bread not super crunchy, so I don’t leave mine in as long.

Once done, serve right away and enjoy!

Notes:

If you want to make a larger batch of garlic bread, I approximately use ½ Tbsp of butter per slice.

Delicious! You can never go wrong with Basil!! I think I am going to try this with fresh oregano, since I have so much growing in my yard.

About Me

Welcome to Becky’s Kitchen Corner! I am so happy to see that you are here today. My name is Rebekah, but around here I’m known as Becky. I love to be in the kitchen, cooking and baking up a storm. Though, I don’t like cleaning up the storm as much, ha!

I’m from Pittsburgh and now living in a much sunnier state of North Carolina. I am the youngest of 8 kids and so growing up, I had lots of people to eat up my baked goodies.

In the daytime, I work as a nanny for my sister and brother-in-law to care for my adorable, silly nephew.
