Easy Sourdough Cranberry Waffles
These sourdough cranberry waffles are super easy and perfect for this holiday season! The waffle batter is a nice basic butter base, add some cranberries and there’s a beautiful tang that comes from them. Add some chocolate and it adds a whole new level of flavor.
Cranberries are a super underrated fruit, but they have so much potential. If you love cranberries as much as I do, then you need to make these!
Here we go:
Ingredients:
- 2 eggs
- ½ c butter, melted
- 2 Tbsp maple syrup
- 1 c sourdough starter
- 1 ½ c milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- ½ c einkorn flour
- 1 ½ c all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ c finely chopped cranberries
Instructions:
Melt the butter and set aside to cool for a few minutes
While that cools, whisk the eggs, syrup, milk, stater, and vanilla together. Then slowly add the butter and cranberries. Once that’s all whisked in, add the other ingredients, and stir till combined.
Once your waffle maker is heated, make your waffles!
Tips:
- I like to add about ⅓ cup of dark chocolate chips too! The cranberries are tart and the chocolate add a sweetness.
- You can use either active or discard starter, but I’d reccomened discard. When I’ve used active, the waffles get extremely puffy and opens the waffle maker.
