It’s always fun to do something special for a holiday. Either it is an activity or in this case food. In 2016, I decided to make Easter-themed pancakes. I based it on the resurrection egg collection. The eggs had something in them to represent something from the Easter story in the Bible.
For 2021 Easter, I decided to re-do that. When I first made them, they didn’t turn out too great. But I can’t say they turned out amazing this year either. Both times were fun, but it’s definitely hard to shape something with pancake batter.
First time I used a spoon, but this year I used a piping bag with a slanted tip. It worked much better, but I think it would be better with a different tip.
If you want to do something like this, here are some tips:
- Use a piping bag with a small tip. It’s easier to move and make different shapes
- Use a thicker batter, so you have more control of how much batter comes out
- If you prefer chocolate chip pancakes, you could use chocolate syrup to take its place
- Or if you don’t have chocolate syrup, you could melt a few chocolate chips and spread it around the pancakes
Here’s the recipe I used:
Ingredients
1 egg
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup milk
2 Tbsp oil ( I use melted coconut oil or butter)
3 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
Instructions:
Beat the eggs till fluffy, then add all of the other ingredients
The Story:
For the 2016 picture, I tried to do “folded hands”, but for this year I just stuck with a hand for representing the praying hands.
The completed stories! Overall, I think I did improve, but there are some I liked better from 2016 than 2021. I might just make these again, next year. 🙂
Which set do you like better? Do you have a favorite pancake out of the two? Let me know in the comments!
